Laocoön from the famous group in the Vatican as a white single figure. In 2021 we produced only the central figure from 3D data and delivered it to Dresden. We had previously built a full-size replica of the whole group for a museum.

About the Project
The brief was not the whole group but Laocoön alone: the central figure without his sons and the serpents. He had to be separated from the 3D data of the group and stand securely as a sculpture of his own.
We separated Laocoön digitally from the group, closed the open areas and set the figure on its own base. The surface stays matte white like a plaster cast, so the anatomy carries the piece.
3D data of the group → Separate the central figure → Production → Matte white surface → Delivery to Dresden.
The figure was finished in early July 2021 and arrived in Dresden on 2 July.
A replica shows the original without replacing it: GRP carries the figure light and stable, without the weight of marble.
